Honor Thy Father – My Son the Hero

Victors Heroes

WHAT can anyone say about their firstborn?  I was fortunate enough in the second year of my first marriage to have a substantial part in the procreation of Victor Manuel Roldan II whom I called Rocky!

Today he is a 6ft 3 inch 270 pound father of three (1 adopted -A source of pride-) with a woman that, to say the least, is perfect (in his eyes).  He holds a job with a trucking firm, works at night, and when I was in Georgia always found time to watch a movie with me (always paid) or take me out to dinner.  Never complaining about the price or the money he spent on me.  Though he is quite “thrifty”!  Like if we went to an 11am Sunday Morning movie he would only pay five dollars (concessions were out of the question).

In 1995 I had hip replacement surgery and my…

Victors Heroes

Recently, because of walking difficulties, I have pretty much become a hermit at my suite 111.
Neighbors noticed!
Hank and Karen knocked on my door to “check up” on me! That was very refreshing. I told them I was okay and they both gave me their phone numbers and Hank even supplied me with a walker.
The only thing, so far, we have in common is a Saturday afternoon Bible Study. Plus these people have their own issues and they took time to check up on me!

Shelly

I moved to Fort Myers, Florida early 1991 from New York City and shortly after I started attending a church called “Covenant Community Ministries”.
I don’t remember when or how it started but I befriended a girl named Shelly.
Our friendship has never been tainted. At time it grew apart as her studies took her away from Florida, and on several occasions I have moved away from Florida, also.
Yet throughout the years we have stayed in touch via phone or internet or trough social media. Shelly has gone from being a school teacher to being a guidance counselor.
She has seen me through cancer, and a marriage that didn’t quite work out and we have carried each other to and from the airport on several occasions.
I have seen her through some bad relationships (Shelly is to trusting) and disappointing times.
Shelly is selfless as she has befriended some elderly people and maintained those relationships as if they were blood relatives. Though Shelly has her own opinions she clearly gives of herself 100%.
Recently, she has been very influential in the life of one of her “charges” going as far as adoption.
Last year saw me go through some tough illnesses and currently I am unable to keep my balance when on my feet and I need to have company to do the most simple of errands.
Shelly has helped me not only with her company but unloading groceries, trips to the barber, doctors appointments and the such. Shelly and I have just one bond – we both love Jesus Christ! Everyone should have a friend like Shelly Boeck! *

2007 – Radiation Therapy (How to lose 100 pounds – without trying!)

After two sessions of chemotherapy during Christmas 2006 and to start 2007; my doctor recommended radiation therapy.  I was reluctant at first, after all I was believing in “his healing power” but I had already submitted to “not my will but thine be done” and so agreed.  First I had to have all my teeth removed but I felt the Holy Spirit prompt me not to remove my front teeth (and I still  have them).

The radiation doctor (a good man) told me there would be 52 sessions and explained that because of the sensitivity caused by the radiation my progress could not be checked and so this was the recommended dosage.

I attended the sessions alone.  I was scared.  Being claustrophobic did not help.  The process involved having a mesh mask wrapped around my head and then bolted to the table I lied on.  A machine that was “zapping”  me was my only company!

But the Comforter was there and on more than one occasion, I felt him in the room with me and once or twice I heard his voice!  Including the day he told me that the radiation was no longer needed!  So the treatment ended after 32 sessions!  The radiation wroe on his report that Mister Roldan was putting his fate in the hands of a higher power!

On July 20th 2007 my doctor declared me : No evidence of Disease!

If you marry my ex wife; are we related?

IN the summer of 1992 I was driving from Fort Myers Florida to Brooklyn, New York with my son of 14 and my daughter of 13. The trip was really without incident until we reached the Jersey Turnpike. I stopped to fill up and remembered that the car needed antifreeze and so I took care of that too.
That was my undoing as we drove for another mile and the car seemed to blow up and there was anti-freeze all over the place. I made it to the next exit and was lucky to find a gas station an I pulled into it.
But it was about 11pm and no one was there and on top of that it began to rain. I gave my son some change and instructed him to call his mother (he was waiting for them) and advise her that we would be spending the night in the car and attempt to get it fixed in the morning and continue then.
Having no choice; we talked for a little while and slowly but surely my daughter fell asleep; then my son and I was joining them.
Then, about two hours later, a loud banging (actually it wasn’t so loud but since it woke me up I thought we wee being invaded)and when I looked to see who it was; it was “Papo” my ex wife’s husband!
I woke up the kids and informed them what was going on; they both knew Papo and I thanked him that he came to get the kids at that ungodly hour. He quickly explained that he came to get the kids and me; showed me a chain, tied one end to his car and the other to mine and the guy pulled me for over two hours to Brooklyn!
A the years have gone by I have learned to respect him and love him like a brother. He has spent holidays with me and I have eaten meals at his house. I am proud to share both my children and grand children with him.
We have had a falling out and hope that one day he will forgive me for my shortcomings. Papo is a true representation of what a Christian man should be like.

Good Samaritan 2/2/2014

Last Sunday (2/2), after doing some food shopping at Wal- Mart, my vehicle would not start! I was stuck in the parking lot! Many people saw my plight and none offered to help, I was approached by one person who wanted a dollar. I waited half a hour to star the vehicle to no avail. I then waited another half hour, tried again, nothing! I had Ice Cream in the car and it was about 82 degrees outside. I decided that I would attempt to get a ride from anyone as I live nearby. I have no family here in southwest Florida that I can rely on. I called my buddy Frank who is near both Wal-mart and my apartment but, got no answer.
But how does asking a stranger for a ride look?
If I approached a young lady – I’m a pervert!
If I approached an old lady – I’m a mugger!
If I approached a young man – I’m gay!
If I approached and old Man – I’m a thief!
A nicely dressed man passed by with a young boy and I thought for sure he was a church going man and so I decided that when he came back (should I still be there) I would ask him. To my surprise he was back in about 10 minutes.
I asked him if he was a christian; “Yes.”
I asked him if he would give me and my Ice cream bag only a ride home: “No” but he would be willing to help me with all my bags and take me and ALL my bags home! He did just that! Helped me unpack and waited till I got my cart to carry my bags inside my apartment!
Get this.
He’s a Jehovah’s Witness! We need more people like that!
